Don Mutal - Principal in Charge
Don Mutal is a real estate developer and entrepreneur with vast international experience. His deep understanding of construction engineering and work ethic have been instrumental in increasing profit margins for investors. Don started out in the hospitality industry as a yacht engineer and quickly worked up to the title of captain. He spent over 20 years traveling the globe and commanding multi-million dollar vessels for many of the world’s most influential people. He began his “land” career in Houston working in private equity/real estate; he later moved to the Pacific Northwest where he opened his own real estate development firm. Don has developed many types of real estate including condos, office, and mixed use.
Aaron Jones - Chief Estimator & Development Services Principal
Aaron Jones continues to be one of the most active developers in the Portland apartment industry. For over a decade he has been designing, developing and investing in the most efficient and innovative projects in the region. Each time he delivers a new project he sets a new bar for rental rates and quality of living innovations. Aaron has completed over $600 million in projects during his career and currently has multiple projects under development. Aaron has a passion for what he does and with that passion he has developed and grown strong relationships with the people and companies needed to develop highly successful projects. With Path PDX Aaron is involved all aspects of projects from site acquisition and DD, through design and entitlements, Construction management, Marketing and lease up, & Long term Management & operations.
Gerald Bartley - Project Manager
Gerald began his development career in 1979 at Weinstock Construction where he worked as a Project Manager for 6 years. While in this position Gerald focused on negotiating contracts and construction management for the development of tract housing. In 1994 Gerald accepted the position of Project Manager at Northwestern, Inc. where he worked for 20 years until the company closed their doors in October 2014. While at Northwestern Gerald focused on the development of high end custom interior woodworking including molding, cabinetry and specialty made fixtures for high end homes and casinos in Las Vegas. In this position Gerald oversaw the manufacturing and installation, negotiation and approval of contracts and oversaw all plans and drawings related to the design. In 2014 Gerald began working for McCoy Construction as a Project Manager on a large custom home including the planning and development of tennis courts, pools and guesthouses on site. After 14 months Gerald made the move to Oregon to accept a promotion as Senior Development Project Manager at PATH PDX Construction. Gerald brings 28 years of experience to this position and will be focusing his efforts on the $1.7M renovation of the community spaces at The Douglas Apartments, a high end South Waterfront multifamily asset located in Portland, OR. After completion of this project Gerald will take his expertise in high end hospitality to The Woodlark Hotel development where he will be contributing to the bar and restaurant buildout.
Paul Jackson - Superintendent
Paul brings over 15 years of experience in the construction industry specifically in project management, framing, carpentry, window installation and painting. After working in the Columbia Gorge building custom homes and performing remodels, Paul joined the Path Construction in 2013. He has worked with Path Construction on dozens of projects ranging from new construction multifamily complexes, restaurants, apartment remodels, retail stores, and office spaces. Paul’s role with Path PDX is the Superintendent/Project Manager coordinating construction of commercial tenant improvements in the Portland Metro area.
Marty Surby - Project Manager
Marty has effectively managed construction of numerous project types with a strong focus on construction management and owners representation for developers.His work history spans 17 years as a construction manager, owner’s representative, project manager, and superintendent with more than 26 years in the development/construction industries. His extensive experience in construction management/owners representation combined with his technical certificate of 720 credit hours in project management, cost estimating, scheduling, blue print reading, negotiations, and dispute resolution. His construction management expertise includes pre-development due diligence, entitlement, design, estimating, budgeting, owner’s representation for all design consultants, scheduling, forecasting, and project control.
Andrew Tucker - Project Engineer
After graduating from Oregon State University with a Bachelor of Science in Economics, Drew was hired on to work directly under the Project Development team. Along with the development team, Drew helped create a 7 million dollar budget and scope for newly acquired properties in Vancouver, Washington while helping streamline Rose City Renovations (RCR) with their Unit Renovation program. Drew was quickly promoted to Project Manager of Interior Renovations to standardize unit renovations of all NBP Capital’s properties. As Project Manager of Interior Renovations, Drew managed around 150 renovations with the responsibilities of determining scope of work, creating estimates, ordering material, managing employees, scheduling and managing subcontractors, and reporting construction progress and costs.
After the merge of RCR and PATH Construction in February 2017, Drew became Project Engineer of the newly formed PATH-PDX. Now managing 26 employees, he works closely with Project Managers and Superintendents coordinating and scheduling his team to perform projects with the benefit of in-house, sub-market costs. On a weekly basis tracking labor hours and progress for all open projects, new and projects that rolled over with the merge.
Bob Nichol - Superintendent
Bob offers the team 47 years of experience in the construction industry with a background in both commercial and residential work. Bob spent the first 28 years of his career in the residential sector framing hillside homes in Eugene and Supervising multi-million dollar home projects in Dallas, TX and San Jose, CA. Shortly after moving to the Portland area in 1994 Bob began working on large scale commercial projects including ground up, hospital remodels, restaurants, multi-family, and historic renovations.
